Rugby, Cupcakes, Pagina Web & Mas || Julio 2020 S2

Color Theory for Illustrators: a Fun Beginner’s Guide to Creative Colour (by Brooke Glaser)

Hue: Color Wheel

Saturation: Desaturated colours blend into the background, saturated pop

Value: How light or dark a colour is. May be referred to as brightness or lightness. Value Scale. Lighter values are called tint, darker values are called shades

Fix your colors: 5 common color mistakes

  1. Using too many colors
  2. Using too many highly saturated colours
  3. Not using enough contrast in values
  4. Forgetting about the background till the end
  5. Only sticking to “real” colours
  6. Relying on memory when you’re going for realism

Shading with color: More color saturation, shift in the hue

Color Temperature: Cold tones sink, specious, calm. Warm tones pop, cozy

Mood, emotion & implied meaning of colors
