Kia Ora everyone! Wellington is getting Wicked! Jono and I went to watch Wicked in Wellington with his mom and brother.
The Untold Story of the Witches of Oz is a musical with songs by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman. Based on the novel Wicked: Memoirs of a Wicked Witch by Gregory Maguire, a parallel story to the events narrated in the literary classic The Wonderful Wizard of Oz

As usual, we can’t take pictures and videos while the performance is happening so here’s some pics of the outside and the stage before the show.
It was really interesting to watch this show in a smaller theatre after watching it in Broadway. If we knew back in New York that 2023’s show in Wellington was going to be Wicked, we might’ve picked a different show to watch in New York.
Wellington’s St James only hosts one big musical a year. Last year it was Les Misérables and we weren’t able to watch it because we were going overseas. Hopefully we get to watch something cool next year!
